Keeping a large raccoon away from my window?

It's fascinated with my cat... ugh. It scratches at the screen to get to my cat. I try to scare it with loud noise but to no avail. Help!Keeping a large raccoon away from my window?
Sounds like you have a nuisance raccoon. You might just have to call a wildlife rescue and have them set a live trap. If you do contact someone, make sure they DO use live trapping techniques. Nuisance wildlife is becoming more common with habitat being destroyed and no place for them to go.

You could try to keep the cat out of the window for a few days and it might lose interest and not return...

I would contact a wildlife sanctuary or even go to a local vets office and rent a live trap yourself then take it several miles out into the woods (close to a water source!) and release it yourself. Just be very careful!!

On the down side, it might be an escaped domesticated animal and would have a hard time surviving alone in the wild. One that brave has definitely lost fear of humans and should be put into a zoo or wildlife sanctuary anyway.

Good luck!Keeping a large raccoon away from my window?
Is this something that the dog catchers can help you with.? Is there anyway you could isolate the raccoon to hold it hostage until they could come and pick it up, if they will do it? Seems like they might help you if you asked.
Prepare a Cyclone fence cage with a trap inside with food. Try something that looks like a cat. Catch it. There are products with sort of a pesticide used to deviate animals from certain areas. Sulphur is one of the ingredients used for bats and maybe it will work with Raccoons. As a Veterinarian.
You can try several things.

1. Pour straight ammonia on the window sill and surrounding area, which works well to keep them out of the trash but will need to be continually reapplied. Moth balls may also work but are poisonous to children and other animals.

2. Use a trap (large live trap) and after catch the racoon take it to a woods 20-25 miles or more away and release it.

3. A permanent solution is a dead racoon, which can be accomplished with fly bait (can be acquired from the local farm supply store) mixed with a can of coke) This is dangerous because of the other critters that could get into it so you will want to be careful.

4. Get (maybe borrow) a big dog to tie up under the window so that the racoon will stay away.

Good luck, I have found that trapping and disposing of unwanted rodents like racoons and possums is the only way to rid yourself of them. If there is one usually there are more and they multiply. They carry rabies and other diseases that can be spread to pets and people so they are a very big problem.
