How do you get a raccoon in a live trap?

I am having trouble catching a raccoon in my trap? Can enyone help me ??How do you get a raccoon in a live trap?
Put some fish in it, like sardines or any type fish!*How do you get a raccoon in a live trap?
Make sure the bait is securely attached to the trigger mechanism so when they try to take the bait it will definitely set the trap. Raccoons are omnivores so they will eat just about anything, a peice of chicken should work good for attracting raccoons and triggering the trap.
What ever you use don't put the food on the trap door release.raise the trap and put it under the trap release.Coons are smart little critters. They can remove the food without tripping the door.By putting it under the trap, they will move around enough trying to get the food that it will trip the door.
Put some dog food in there and a bowl of water. Raccoons are very smart. Why are you trying to trap it? Hopefully you're planning to take it to the woods or something....hope it doesn't have any babies. They will just keep on coming back anyway. You won't be able to fully get rid of them. Where I live in southeast Texas they are everywhere. The lady next door said her husband shot one with a bb gun and got rid of the coons once and for all LOL. She must not sit out much at night....and we live in the city off the coast.

I also hope your not planning to have it as a pet....that's dangerous and just.....wrong.
Cat food, dog food, cereal... I had a pet raccoon once, she loved ruffles potato chips, she'd dip em in water first. Coons don't have saliva glands.
get some really strong smelling stuff for example cat fish atractant chum it smells gnarly but they love the suff and put that on a hot dog wiener...:-)
We caught a few with a trail of sliced apples.
