I just ran over and killed a raccoon. Should I just throw her cubs out or shelter them at the backyard?

I don't know if the little ones can survive on their own as they are very young. We don't have raccoons where I come from and know nothing about them, but the neighbor said they are filthy and deserve to die anyways. I would certainly do something to help the babies. You shouldn't just leave them to starve or be killed by something.





That doesn't mean you need to raise them yourself, just that you need to find someone who can. If you call a local veterinarian, they probably have a list of people or organizations who may take them in. Another option would be to call a local humane society to see if they have any resources for you.





Most raccoons are not filthy but it is true that they can carry disease (like any animal can). Just be sure to wash your hands after you handle them and keep them away from any pets you may have just in case.
Raccoons are not filthy, they have every right to life as other animals. If there is an animal shelter nearby, take them there. If not, make contact with animal control or animal services and see can they be picked up and handed into care.
No, you definitely shouldn't throw the cubs out. you should not take them in to your backyard either. they are wild. take them to the nearest animal shelter because eventually the will be released into the wild again. Good Luck!
Call the nearest Animal Control and tell them of your situation. They will tell you what to do. And sorry for the mishap.
