If not he doesn't need rabies shots. You need to kill that raccoon. If you live in a city call animal control. But it needs to be disposed of ASAP.

Edit #2 Rabies shots hurt like hell and are a serie of 20+ shots over a couple off weeks not something to put a kid through if he was not bit.
