What do I do about a raccoon who wants to come in my house?

I`m serious,I have cats and sometimes I leave cat food on the porch,so when I come to bring in the food for the night,he will try to follow me in the house to come after the food just like a cat!He doesn`t act aggressive or anything and he`s been doing this for months now.What do I do about a raccoon who wants to come in my house?
As a responsible adult, I'd say no, because he may turn on you. As the 18 year old animal enthusiast that I am, I'd say go for it, but if you can, leave the door open so he has a visible exit in case he freaks. It's awesome that you have a raccoon that trusting, and it'd be awesome if you could forge a friendship :)What do I do about a raccoon who wants to come in my house?
Absolutely do not allow him in. Raccoons can be aggressive and they will fight and/or kill your cats.





If you pet the raccoon, make sure that you wash your hands immediately after.





Many raccoons do carry diseases as do all animals who are wild and live outdoors. Use caution. He may look healthy but he may be carrying a lot.





Likewise, if you are planning to move, your raccoon friend is going to be without his source of food, so do not leave food out for him.
Spray with a commercial deer/rabbit repellent...it might work...that stuff is all natural but very nasty. And stop leaving food out!
Get a big dog. Nothing hangs around when a dog shows up, especially a big one. Racoons are rabid. Don't get close to that animal.
Raccoons can become VERY aggressive. Do not allow him in your house.
They poo EVERYWHERE when they get scared. I would definately not encourage it coming in, they can startle and turn dangerous very suddenly when in a confined space.





If you have to feed him, do it over by the garage or away from the door so he doesn't think going inside is something he should do.





They can bite a human or animal very badly and yes they can be aggressive if they're frightened. Raccoons also carry fleas and are one of the animals that are known to be able to get infected with rabies like foxes, skunks and bats. Keep him outside. You can use him to help clean up leftovers, but do it away from the door to the house.





I feed the possums here (two young ones and an adult) but don't encourage them to get close. They are wild and I don't want someone else hurting them because the possums think they can walk up to people.

ok well call a number from a phone book and look for animal people who can TAKE IT AWAY OR CAPTURE IT!!
Don't leave the cat food on the porch. Raccoon's can carry rabies so be careful.

If you love your cats, don't let the raccoon in. They are dangerous wild animals, and you never know when they are going to strike. Your cats will make easy targets. Don't be deceived by appearances. It's probably best to feed your cats inside the house, at least for now. If that doesn't cause the raccoon to leave, then call the animal control, who will take him away without harming him.
stop putting food outside or call animal control they are good because they set the animal free in a differant part of the state.
