How do I get the raccoon that is living in my old empty house out without tearing the house apart?

I heard him in there, and I think he is in the floor of the second story, or ceiling of the main floor (same thing). I have only seen him once, it was in a corner in the attic and he scoured off into a gap in the wall in there. The house is being donated to a museum because it's heritage stuff, so I can't go tearing it up.How do I get the raccoon that is living in my old empty house out without tearing the house apart?
Call the animal control and they will set up a humane trap. Eventually within a few days, the raccoon will get caught in the trap (it a cage with food that closes and is used for wild pets that) and it will be put in a better place where it won't bother people.How do I get the raccoon that is living in my old empty house out without tearing the house apart?

Do NOT attempt this on your own! Raccoons can be VERY dangerous and VERY aggressive, and can carry NUMEROUS diseases, etc... Also, it may not be a he, it may be a female with babies, which would make her even more aggressive. Call your local animal control and explain the situation to them. They can direct you to your local game warden, who can assist you in removing the animal safely. I can't emphasize enough to NOT attempt this yourself, as you can get SERIOUSLY injured. Raccoons may look cute and harmless, but they can do SERIOUS damage to a human, so, PLEASE, consult a professional and do NOT attempt to remove the animal yourself!
use a live trap and bait it with marshmallows, raccoons cannot resist them. But check with your local animal control to find out if you are allowed to trap out of season without a nuisance permit or fur bearers stamp. It seems stupid in your case, but our conservation officer would not think twice about fining you!!!
