Is it illegal to shoot a raccoon with a tranquilizer gun? where do I get one?

I have been having a problem with raccoons and other things(recently had to trap one with a box) and dont want to kill them, but I need to take it elseware or wait until authorities get there. I feel that would be the right way to take care of the situation.

I don't think animal control would want you shooting it with a tranquilizer gun.


I could be wrong but you should call and ask them about it.


They might have something that would keep raccoons away so you don't have to worry about it.

the tranquilizer i think would be the problem getting the the tranquilizer now that would be a hard one i think you need somthing from the usda to own that kind of drug i would hate to think i would risk some hard time in jail for a stupid coon

The first answer is right. For a tranquilizer to be affective, you need to have the right amount injected into the raccoon. Too much will kill it and to little will not do anything.
You can buy humane traps and then just transport them to a different locale.
