I have set out one coon cage trap for a week and have caught 5 coons. Now i have set my trap for 3 days and everyday the bait has been gone. The cage is working perfect i have put the bait in the right place everytime. I also have killed everyone i have caught so i know it isnt a coon that has learned from it's mistakes. Could u give me tips?What keeps taking my bait out of my raccoon trap?
it could be a coon, some of them are very clever and couldve seen a trap before, or maybe learned from watching the others. if ur really curious u could set up a motion light and wait lolWhat keeps taking my bait out of my raccoon trap?
Well if you have a smaller animal coming in and eating the bait, they don't weight enough to set off the trap... I'd work on the trigger set on the trap and see if you can improve the weight and the release of the trigger..... Do you or have you smelled an skunks in the area..... that would be my first guess....
could be a weasel, they are very good at bait theft. try wiring the bait to the back of the cage, it makes it harder for anything to steal it.
Is a coon a fish? lol
