How to get rid of a raccoon?

He's too big for the trap and he is not afraid of people. He'll walk towards us and will get within 3-5 feet without fear. We're nervous because he's wandering our childcare facility. (Florida) Thanks! How to get rid of a raccoon?

if he gets that close what about using one of those poles with the wire in it. the one that is like a lasso in a pole. you can catch it and set it free far away in the wild. or let the animal control do it for you.
Definitely....call animal control; laying poison or traps might poison or trap something you don't want trapped/poisoned
You need to call animal control. If he's out during the day and willing to get that close to you, he may be rabid and needs to be taken care of by a professional as soon as possible before he hurts a child or neighborhood pet.
Buy a Have-A-Heart trap, they come in all sizes, but they are not cheap! I have a friend that is a trapper and that is what he uses for raccoons and skunks! Then he takes them a couple of miles away and lets them go in the woods.
your best bet would be to contact your local animal control office. the people there are trained to deal with the local wildlife safely. Especially since there are children who might be endangered by this racoon I wouldn't delay in calling animal control, as racoons are known rabies carriers and territorial, temperamental little critters who can become quite vicious. good luck with it!
Call the local wildlife service they will take it away for you
I would get a bigger trap, but most importantly it would be better to call animal control/wildlife control to handle this.

Why take the liability risk trying to trap the raccoon when children are involved?

Have a porfessional handle this so you can rest assured that it is taken care of.
